Hi, Thinking about getting a BB Playbook and was just wondering do I have to have a blackberry smartphone paired with bridge to the tablet to get bbm or can I get bbm without a blackberry smartphone and without bridge?

Hi, the PlayBook is a great little tablet, however, to utilize BBM and SMS on it, you do need to have it bridged to a BlackBerry handset. BBM is an exclusive messenger service for BlackBerry users and you would need a specific BlackBerry data plan to use it.  However, don't close your mind to the possibility of getting a BlackBerry in the future.
