I bought this playbook so I could travel with it . And. especially to use Skype. It seems to start the down load but stalls out. When I find the download it starts can't open. Can anyone help me thanks.

skype does not support Playbook natively.

you have two options:

1- use video chat that comes with playbook but only works with users of other playbooks

2- sideload the andriod skype app...but you can only audio chat...


there are other apps but not ideal...

There is no Skype app for PlayBook at this time, and so far Skype has not committed to developing or porting. If that was your primary purpose for buying the PlayBook you may want to re-think your decision if you still can.

It's always a good idea to research this sort of thing before you buy.

Download the IMPlus APP.   It supports Skype.

I'm assuming he wanted to use it for audio or video chat. IM+ only supports text chat. Better than nothing, but that may not be enough.

No, it's the other way around: PlayBook does not support Skype.

Can you do audio chat via Skype on PlayBook? How? With which Skype version?

It is no wonder that RIM is not doing well in the market place - they just don´t get it - Skype is a very important tool.

e.g. for travelers - i run a hostel and well over 90% of my guests use Skype to communicate. Most of them travel with netbooks but increasingly i am noticing a trend towards tablets. I suspect Skype is also popular other groups of users too. FYI I have a playbook and this is about the only negative I have on it.
