Re: Downloading SKYPE

I am amazed at the negativity shown by some posters about Skype availability for the Playbook.
Skype runs on Linux, Mac and PC, given certain basic requirements. It is used by myself to see family members, and I would like, at times, to show them where I am when out and about.

If I can't do that with a Playbook, which I use in preference to other tablets, what is wrong with wanting to do that? I am not a shepherd or an iSheep, but a qualified Windows techie of several decades experience (from when Windows was rubbish!).

Skype works on my home computers, it works on an iPad, yadda, yadda, yadda. So, in my humble opinion, RIM should really do something about this, by asking Skype for help.

I ask because very many (certainly not all, but who cares?) think it a great application.

Re: Downloading SKYPE

Skype is on my Blackberry Smartphone OS6.

Apparently the next iteration will have the same OS as is on the Playbook.

Wouldn't one expect RIM engineers will have Skype on their new phones? Especially because it's already there.

Please argue this, logically if you wouldn't mind.

Re: Downloading SKYPE

Isn't Verizon a mobile telco?
So how does that affect a hardware provider?
By that logic, no Skype for apple or android.
Plus I'm in Canada, as is rim.

Re: Downloading SKYPE

I agree!  Lack of SKYPE is THE biggest problem with this product.
