Re: Email worked, now it doesn't

I did get my LinkedIn account setup.

I will try my Comcast email account, but it hasn't worked yet. It is a Pop3.

Re: Email worked, now it doesn't

I am going to call RIM tomorrow as a whole week went by without any real progress. They did a lot of testing on their end and we communicated a few times but no resolution.

Ugh. I feel for you. I can imagine your frustration.

By the way, I just added my Comcast email account and it works (sending / recieving) no problem. So, I have Comcast and LinkedIn working...

Re: Email worked, now it doesn't

I just tried my Facebook account.  No dice.  No red x this time, just the green circle indefinitely.  Let it run for over 5 mins.  No error message returned, and the "back" and "save" buttons greyed out.

That plus the fact that I can't integrate my Hotmail account (I could last week when it was working, but I deleted it and now can't re-integrate it) makes me believe this has nothing to do with servers or EAS, BES, BBCS or otherwise.  If it did they I should be able to integrate my Hotmail and Facebook and IMAP emails.  The fact that I can sometimes, on a random basis, and then they stop working intermittently, tells me it is a hardware/firmware/software issue with the PlayBook.  I'm not going to mess around with it any longer.  I am going to push for a replacement tomorrow.

Re: Email worked, now it doesn't

I'm with you in pushing for a replacement. I think I will too.

By chance, did the time when it quit working happen after you changed WiFi locations? For me, itseems that switching locales is the culprit.

Re: Email worked, now it doesn't

I spoke with 2nd level support, created a ticket, and couldn't resolve the problem. They think it is on my side (EAS settings, etc.).

So, I just wiped it again. I input my settings. Back up and running 100%.

So, I'm taking my device back to Best Buy for a replacement today in hopes that fixes the problem.

Re: Email worked, now it doesn't

Ya. Its not your EAS. I wish I could do the BestBuy exchange but I'm kinda handcuffed. Mine is a 64 GB and good luck finding stock of 64 GB versions anywhere...

This is the 2nd PB I have had since my purchase mid-January. The first one bricked on me and was sent back to RIM. I am pretty sure the one they sent back to me is a re-furb unit and so I have inherited someone elses headaches.

Re: Email worked, now it doesn't

Every time we lose exchange mails from the PB, the only way to see them again is to delete and install the account. So yes RIMs advice to wipe will fix it but only til next time on wifi. It does not clear the bug. We had no problems on bridge. Definitely a playbook email bug with exchange active sync.

RIM please take it seriously, it affects your target market most!

Re: Email worked, now it doesn't

As I mentioned, I performed a wipe, restored my settings and it worked 100%. RIM was unable to troubleshoot this with second level support.

So, I wiped my device again (after getting it working today) and to Best Buy to exchange my PB for another one. The new build (located outside of box) is January 10, 2012. My previous one was from December 11, 2012. I highly doubt that makes a difference. But, I'm just noting it.

This newer one has a slight clicking sound when pressing the power button. While I am kind of particullar, it doesn't bother me and it does work correctly.

At any rate, the first thing I did after unpacking the replacement unit was perform a wipe. Then I loaded 2.0. After rebooting I went into my account settings and added my EAS account info and it fired right up. I hope it stays there becuase wiping / reloading simply to fix my email is just insanity. If it fails again, i will probably just skip native email / contacts / calendar and use bridge, but, it is so much more convenient to have both there for what I want / when I want. Incendently, I usually choose to turn off message count and notifications of email in the native one, and allow my Bridge to use the badges due to the way I use my device...

As of 3:15 on March 5, 2012 I'm 100% in sync with the unit. Now I'm reloading from App World and reinstalling all my side loads. I will report back if this fails again.

Frankly, I think it is a bug somewhere / somehow and it seems to me that it is tied to jumping to different networks.

Re: Email worked, now it doesn't

I definitely think this is a bug that has something to do with moving from one wifi/tethered Internet environment to another.

This morning I left my house with no PB email. Tethered to my BlackBerry there was no change. After being in a hospital for a few hours and having my BlackBerry all screwed up from being in and out of coverage, I got out to my car and I turned off my 3G connection and back on again. As soon as I turned my BB mobile network connection back on, my email started working in the PlayBook which was tethered at the time.

I have a hard time believing that we are the only 2 people using EAS however that are having this problem.
