Re: Get BlackBerry Bridge for your BlackBerry

I installed the new version of Blackberry Bridge. I had to refresh the list to see the update prompt.

After installing, I selected to show the remote control icon on the desktop.  This is very interesting. With the Torch being a touch screen, I can use the torch as a pad mouse with a selectable keypad as required. With both fingers I can do scrolling. With one finger I can have an arrow. There is a very well thought of setup options menu.

I am anxious to see how OS2 will work with this.

Re: Get BlackBerry Bridge for your BlackBerry

The Playbook can not connect to the mobile network like a phone. It has to be tethered for best internet performance. Your phone service must have the tethering option to share the phone data. You do save on not needing another mobile plan just for a tablet.

As for making calls through the tablet, you would need an application for that. I have not used the tablet this way. I know there is some video conferencing software that comes with the tablet.

I have done a remote phone connection over Bluetooth to my Torch using a laptop. This works with Win7 - 32 bit, not with the 64 bit version. On the laptop a headset with a mic will be required for this.

Just to add, the Playbook cannot use a SIM card, because it does not have a mobile tranceiver inside of it. It has to be tethered with a mobile phone, or be used on WiFi for best browser performance.

Tethering with most carriers is much cheaper than having its own mobile plan.

Re: Get BlackBerry Bridge for your BlackBerry

For the Playbook, there is a complete online tutorial about it. Visit:  http://ca.blackberry.com/support/playbook-support/

Toward the bottom of the page there are prompts for most anything you can think about asking.

The manual is a large PDF type file.

For the instruction manual for Version 2 in PDF  format visit:   http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/27019/BlackBerry_PlayBook_Tablet-User_Gu...

Re: Get BlackBerry Bridge for your BlackBerry

I'm ready to purchase a Play Book but find since I'm on AT&T that I will have to purchase a tether package. However, reading some of the early emails, I see there are fixes. With the OS2 update, are there still alternatives for using the Bridge without having to tether? I have a Torch
