You can go to YouTube and do a search on how to use the free and open source Handbrake transcoding software from http://www.handbrake.fr and while you're there, sign up to the forums and ask your question to their community. Someone there will know the answer or be able to guide you along. I suggest you do this because it would be nice if you came back to this community and posted your follow-up reply for anyone else who comes across your post. You'd help others out with your knowledge.
I myself spent $0.99 and purchased the app called MovieFLVPlayer from the app store: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/48
By the way, here is a little more information on it for you to consider: http://www.playbookprojects.com/movieflvplayer/537

Hey BlynDon...YOU must go here and get this software...YOU will be relieved TRUST ME!!!!
http://www.freemake.com/free_video_converter/
Its FREE, and yes, we all love free. It is extremely easy, just drag your vid into program and select what you want to do and in what format 3 clicks and you are off mate. If you want easier, just drag the vid into program and select Blackberry playbook and it converts according to RIM standards for a trouble free experience.
I have been through most of these so called converters and they seem to always disappoint.
I would wish you luck, but you won't need it
ENJOY!

That software by FreeMake.com looks very promising - awesome in fact. I have never heard of it before. I'm going to do more research on it and check out some reviews. Thanks for the heads up.
Update: I've been reading it installs some browser toolbars that aren't exactly easy to uninstall and you don't get a say in their installation or not. Mind you I only read a few reviews off of Cnet.com thus far but still, I'd be aware of this.

Yes, it is not a typical toolbar. Its basically a one button download and convert icon. It is part of the software.
Good for you to do such research, i admire that greatly ; ) I am sure it's only a matter of time before you find what's right for you now that you've got some comparison software and what to look for.
Continued success my friend ....
Cheers
