Re: Help please... I can't backup my PB

I have the same backing-up problems as everyone else...but I have a question. Do I have to re-purchase my paid apps. after a security wipe?? That would be painful

Re: Help please... I can't backup my PB

Backup worked fine all the way up to one of the 1.0.7.xxxx releases. Then it stopped and has not worked since. Hope they fix the desktop software soon. Manual backup is a workaround, but it does not backup any of the settings.

no, you can reinstall them with your BB ID

Re: Help please... I can't backup my PB

Disabling bridge and disabling wifi-sharing seems to have helped.

Close and re-open BBDM and try again.

Re: Help please... I can't backup my PB

I would like to get a megaphone and yell at RIM! I am trying to do my first backup and the backup keeps stopping partway through, giving an error message. I want to backup my files before updating from OS 2.0.1.358 to Version 2.1.0.1088. There doesn't seem to be a solution in the forums.

Re: Help please... I can't backup my PB

I was unable to get my Playbook to do a backup with the program on the PC  so I copied files to the PC using the files option below the backup option. Then I encountered a problem with the BlackBerry file program reporting a file initialization error (?).

How does one manually backup the native browser biikmarks/favorites? Where are the native browser bokmarks/favorites kept?

Re: Help please... I can't backup my PB

Failure to Backup Solved for me. Read on. I have been unable to backup Application Data only. Settings and Media backed up fine. Application Data would not backup since around November 2012. After numerous attempts I think I have the answer. My laptop with Windows XP PRO on it is set for automatic updates. On Saturday afternoon I went onto the Microsoft Update Site. There are two sets of Updates files. One is marked Critical Updates. The other is marked something like Optional Updates. Automatic Updates only installs Critical Updates. The Microsoft Site told me there were 12 Optional Updates that I could download so I did that and installed them. Reboot the laptop and the PlayBook and tried the Application Data Backup and it succeeded. Today I did several backups all successful.
I also noticed that when I connected my PlayBook to my laptop, the BB Desktop Software. Starts. You then get a popup message in the lower right of the laptop. Eventually the message reads Initializing Storage Volume Access. It should list the drive letter of the PlayBook, usually Drive "Z". If the Drive Letter does not indicate, the backup fails every time. Since I updated files at the Microsoft Site, the Drive Letter appeared for every backup.
