go into the about page (star top right of book) then down to Accounts (where you set it up n the first place) tap it and your email site account come up..tap the little pencil on the right of window and a little trash can comes up beside the accounts and you can delete you account there...
In addition to the above, if you delete the Gmail account and reinstall it again because of a problem, the data you have in your contacts or calendar is not lost.
