I can't see a way to import or synchronize my Contacts from the BB Torch or from Outlook Contacts using the BB Desktop Manager. Am I missing something? I went onto help and it says:
Tap on the Settings (*) then Accounts, tap an Account then verify "Sync Contacts" is turned on. There is no option to select "Sync Contacts" under Accounts or anywhere else.
Suggestions? Thanks, Bob

Had the same question. Wanted to sync calendar and contacts from either BB9700 or from Macbook Pro. According to BB technical service, turns out this is not possible for now. Their solution is to use your PB in bridge mode and use the contact/calendar from your phone. In the future, they said that the BB Desktop Manager software will be upgraded to allow you to sync contacts and calendar with a Mac computer, but for now this is not possible. If you have a PC, you might want to check the synching ability of the PC version of Desktop Manager with PB - the PC version is generally more advanced than the Mac version from what I recall (the Mac version only syns media files with the PB for now). If the PC version can sync contacts and calendar as well, then you could at least sync the PB with your phone indirectly by using the Desktop Manager to sync your phone to your PC and then your PC to the PB. Whether they will ever facilitate synching the phone directly to the PB I don't know.
I tried exporting vcf files from my Mac contacts by email, but the PB's native contacts app does not seem to have a means of picking up a vcf or any other standard format file. Gotta think this needs fixing.
So as far as I can tell, for people in our situation, the only current option is to manually enter contacts one by one. Not happening for me - I'll wait/hope for the update to the desptop manager. Still, even when this is done, there won't be a satisfactory solution for the calendar because really you want the calendar to sink wirelessly and in real time if you are entering a lot if appts.
Anyway, let me know if you found out a way of making it all happen.

some people sync outlook to gmail and then add gmail to playbook as a work around

I am glad I am not the only one having this problem. I am using the PC version of Desktop Manager and it is not possible to Import the Contacts or Calendar events into the PB in the new OS2 which is sad as I will not be entering each item individually. Hopefuly they will fix this in the next update for Desktop Manager. It is also sad this is not possible using BlackBerry Bridge.
Thanks, Bob

Might take a look at that roundabout solution.

If that gmail workaround is of interest, check out the link below for instructions - the comments also suggest a way to use hotmail if you have a hotmail account, but the gmail solution looks a lot easier.

good luck! I am not going to use the gmail workaround - one of the reasons I use blackberry is in order to avoid the cloud and google.

I just setup my GMail and had issues with pop and imap. I gave up and use EAS now instead.
remove current gmail account
then add new account
choose email, calendar, contacts
choose advanced setup
Choose Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
- Description, put what you want to describe it
- Leave domain blank
- User name will be your user name on gmail
- Use your email address for email address
- Use m.google.com for server address
click on save and enjoy

To my way of thinking this is a ridiculous situation. Workarounds are all very well, but for something as everyday as this RIM should have sorted it out before OS2 was released.
