Accepted Solution

Kobo

Since updating to the latest OS, neither my wife, or I can open the Kobo app to read our books unless we are connected to WI-FI. Anyone else have this problem or know the solution?

Re: Kobo

It works for me with wifi off.

You could try removing the Kobo app and reinstalling it.

Afterwards, sign in and let it sync your books and then quit and turn off the wifi and try it out.

Hopefully that will sort it for you.

Re: Kobo

Deleting and reinstalling didn't work for me.

I now need WiFi just to open kobo.  It then automatically downloads my library which, once completed, is accessible if I keep kobo open and turn WiFi off.  However when I logout of kobo, with WiFi on, it updates my online library but does not save a resident version on my PB.  Unlike the kobo device, the PB version doesn't appear to keep a resident library, and there is no sync button on the PB version ... unless I've missed this somewhere.  Is this a PB or kobo deficiency?

Re: Kobo

Are you actually signing out of the Kobo app? That is probably the problem you're having.

Don't sign out - just quit the app by swiping up from the edge of the PlayBook.

Re: Kobo

Well imagine that ... this works fine.  I always log-out of applications when I'm finished ... this will have to be an exception.

Thanks!

Re: Kobo

I have the same issue with opening books offline. It seems to also impact opening magazines on Zinio. While keeping the app open all the time does work, it doesn't seem to be a viable long term solution. This wasn't required before this recent OS upgrade. I hope a permanent fix is found!

Re: Kobo

Again, make sure that you're not signing out of the app before quitting. This will delete the content that you've downloaded.

If it's still happening. Delete the app, download it again and try again.
