Lost wifi on OS2 update

So last night I downloaded and installed the OS 2.0 update, restarted the Playbook, and now I have no wifi...

I can turn the wifi on and off, but it doesn't locate any wireless networks whatsoever.

I would prefer not to have to wipe the Playbook and re-load if I can help it, so any other advice would be gratefully received!

Re: Lost wifi on OS2 update

I had the same problem with my upgrade to OS2. I managed to solve it by going to 'Set-up' (last icon on the home screen) and then choosing the Wi-Fi option, and connecting through that (rather than through the 'OS1' Wi-Fi option).

Hope that helps.

Mark

Re: Lost wifi on OS2 update

I tried it and it didn't work. :smileysad:

Seems like lots of people are having similar problems.

It's very strange - I find about 15 wifi networks with my phone and laptop but the Playbook finds none and the wifi is always off when the Playbook starts up.

Looks like it could be a backup and swipe job...!

Re: Lost wifi on OS2 update

Well I backed up my Playbook, ran a security swipe, and on start up it listed all the wifi networks that it had before!

Now in the process of setting it back up, and will run a restore on it, and hope that will be the end of it!

Thankfully I only really use my PB for browsing the internet, so I don't have lots of data on it, and can cope with having to start from scratch if absolutely necessary, but hopefully the Restore will work.  I will post confirmation or otherwise later...

Re: Lost wifi on OS2 update

Hooray!! It worked!!  I have a Playbook that connects to the internet, and has all my data and pictures etc... result!

Now if only it could have worked properly in the first place... Would that have been too much to ask?!

Re: Lost wifi on OS2 update

I found that by taking the settins off dual band  and setting it to either of the two bands 2.4 or 5.6 worked

Re: Lost wifi on OS2 update

same problem here. Prior to OS2 update WiFi worked fine, now no networks are detected. All my phones, PCs connect just fine. I already tried the manual connect, selecting the correct band etc. Nothing works. I'm going to do a hard reset after I copied my data.

Did anybody figure out how to solve this?

Does RIM provide actaul support somewhere or do they rely completely on the community board?
