I have tried to create new account for messages using the info provided. When I try to save info i get a message saying - testing failed due to current settings. any ideas on how this can be corrected so that I can send emails with attachments.

Go to Settings,  Software updates and make sure you have os 2.0.1.668. That update seems to have fixed the problem (well for hotmail at least)

Tried that but we have is.2.0.0.1.358

668 should be available to users in most countries.  If your settings for software updates really does not offer 668, well until then....

1. Go to your Inbox in your email account in a browser eother in pb or on a pc

2. Look at URL of the inbox - mine starts https://snt002.mail.live.com..etc

3. In playbook email setup, go into advanced settings

3. Change the server in advanced settings to match, xxx-m.hotmail.com, in my case snt-m.hotmail.com

With 668 this is not usually necessary

Be sure that you're specifying correct parameters. Also check that mail servers (incoming and outcoming) available at this moment.

2.0.1. 668 is not available at this moment.

668 was available here when I posted.

In that case make the server changes I outlined. It ks the official RIM workaround.  My tip about looking at the url is my own addition.
