just  a quick friendly reminder for those interested in upgrade the OS but not willing to spend time reading the user guide, although this reminder may not be needed for the seasoned savy users.

Before you upgrade, backup your data

also as an extra measure protection use the USB connection to backup PB dataq to you PC w/ desktop software. I'm not saying you will likely have problem for regular users but alwasy be safe rather then be sorry with no recouse.

this is especially important to those have installed the beta version. however this is still a nice insurance to have for those w/o beta version installed

you can save your data before upgrade or wiping
- connect by USB
-PB setting, storage and setting, turn on file sharing...
-in settings, general network, find out your pb IP, let's say its 169.128.5.40
on your PC file explorer address: enter file://169.128.5.40/media
copy all files and directory from that to a folder in your PC
now you have your data all backup

this may take 5 to 10 minutes or more depending on your PC or amount of data on your PB

 if you run into trouble with device driver problem, you may want to try a different PC w/o the desktop software

also be sure to plug in the wall charger to your PB os your PB battery in sufficient good condition and close down all apps before upgrading

Wow... I didn't back up my data, but the upgrade went smoothly.  No problems... no loss.

I did not have any problem either but for those with beta software installed, or the wifi nework acting up, there could be problem.

even though I think my wifi network is solid but just in case of undetected download data gitches or whatever out of my control, I backup my data.

Downloaded no problem. Good reference book but I am sure You and I will likely be the only ones that read it. Most posters with problems don't even read the previous answers even though the problem has been solved days earlier.

true many will not read the manual, but at least we can point to it now. Why search when we can ask. My wife wont even google simple questions when she can ask me

But we can try to help out others as much as we can.

Ha, true. Mine will ask me a question that I know she knows I don't know the answer to.

I answer, "Can I google that for you/".

(Referencing the new Guide) where it says to verify that Sync Contacts is turned on, I don't see an option for that (as its worded in the guide).  All I see is an option for Sync Interval (and a time interval).  What am i missing?  Thanks!

Some email accounts don't have the option to sync contacts, according to what kind of email account you have.

My update is no problem, no data lost, it is better than last update, everything lost.

My found out there is a bug on copy and paste. Sometimes the copy and paste bar is in front, sometimes is behind and you can do nothing.
