when i install the Mic vis C++ 2008 redist setup, it stops at the end of instalation when it shows,

You need to get some MS help to install that. It's above my paygrade (which is currently set at $0, so...).

Bur honestly... can you try using a different PC?

DONE !!
Desktop software worked in my xp system. Update took some time but its perfectly working now.

Yep, you're welcome. Which route did you go... another PC, or you finally got past the c++ issue with Microsoft?

Thank You Sanders, I re-updated the PlayBook OS, this version seemed to be a new one compared to Beta (though I'm not sure).
Presto, it even recognized my home wifi.

Sorry to hear about your loss, there is no recovery once an item is deleted. I hope you have a backup of prior data.
