Re: Native Email with Lotus Notes/ Domino?

You are welcome. Ask the IT guys to install Lotus Traveler on the Domino server, only takes 10 minutes to install and is really simple. They can download a fully functional version from the ibm web-site.

Re: Native Email with Lotus Notes/ Domino?

[ Edited ]

I've not been able to get this to work on my Playbook, works fine on my iPod and I can access email through the browser on my Playbook. The only difference that I can see with the settings that have been suggested is with the server address line:

Suggested: [domain name]/servlet/traveler

Mine: [domain name]:[4 digit number]/servlet/traveler

I'm guessing the 4 digit number is a port that we use, if I take that out it doesn't work in the browser so must be required, I just wonder if that's what's stopping it from working with ActiveSync.

Re: Native Email with Lotus Notes/ Domino?

I got it working!!

When I type travelerservername.domain.com/servlet/traveler on the browser on my Playbook, I'm prompted to log in and I see the Traveler splash page.  All good.

When I type mailservername.domain.com/servlet/traveler on the brower on my Plabook, it's an invalid address.  This is expected, as I don't have Traveler installed on my mail server, it's on a seperate Domino server, and works for our iPad and Android users.  The mail server is SEPERATE from our Traveler server.

I know I'm using the correct shortname, as I'm able to hit my mail through iNotes, and authenticate. The url for my iNotes is: mailservername.domain.com/mail/mymailfile.nsf

So, I was very puzzled about all of this.  Last night I opened the ntsclcache.nsf database on our Traveler server using my Notes client, and I did NOT see an entry for myself (Databases\by Pathname view). Then, this morning I noticed that there was an entry for my mail file, presumably created by the Lotus Traveler addin task. Then, when I tried on my playbook this morning, it worked!  I also had to set up the account WITHOUT SSL, it was "on" by default when setting up the Account.

So, this is all good, but I would suggest confirming your short name (just go to your mail in iNotes on your Playbook browser), and also confirm the URL for your traveler server (again, launch the URL on your PlayBook browser and make sure you can authenticate and hit the Traveler splash page).  Then you'll know the URL and your username are both correct. It won't work until the Traveler addin task has run, and created a document for you in the ntsclcache.nsf database - the Traveler's cluster Cache database.

Regards,

Re: Native Email with Lotus Notes/ Domino?

I just tried to get this working as well and as a previous poster pointed out, it does not work if you use non-standard ports.  Our Traveller server does not use port 80 or 443 but the ActiveSync setup in the PlayBook OS2.0 does not recognize the port. ie, servername.domain.com:8443/servlet/traveler

I have confirmed this on our firewall as I see the connection come in on port 443 if "Use SSL" is on and port 80 if turned off.

Might this be an oversight on RIM's part? Using non-standard ports with this method is pretty standard stuff...

...here's hoping someone else can find a solution!

Re: Native Email with Lotus Notes/ Domino?

I've been able to get this working, as indicated in previous posts it seems that passing an alternative port number at the end of the server address is ignored and uses port 80 or 443 with SSL enabled. We can't use port 80 but have enabled SSL on our Domino server and my PlayBook is now syncing correctly.

Re: Native Email with Lotus Notes/ Domino?

I "sort of" got mine working...

Because you can't specify a port, I had to use an available IP and do a port redirect from 443 to the proper port on our Traveller server.

My account shows up with BlackBerry Balance, however, nothing (mail, calendar, contacts) are sync'ing.

Would there be something else that needs to be done for Traveller or maybe on BES?

Re: Native Email with Lotus Notes/ Domino?

Update: After a quick search, I believe the issue is that our BES server needs to be at 5.0.3 to support BlackBerry Balance. I guess I'll have to wait for the upgrade to get installed...hopefully sooner than later!

Re: Native Email with Lotus Notes/ Domino?

For the ActiveSync to work for the PlayBook against a Lotus Domino server, no Blackberry software needs to be installed on the server side. Lotus Traveler however needs to be installed on the Domino server.

Hmm...then that doesn't explain why I am not getting any mail/contacts/calendar :smileysad: It connects and shows up in my mail accounts along with the BlackBerry Balance icon but nothing syncs...

I know the setup does work...I have an iPad connected via Traveller and it gets mail/calendar/contacts...

Re: Native Email with Lotus Notes/ Domino?

Silly question for you...

In the account configuration settings for your Notes mail...are the 3 options "Sync Email, Sync Contacts, Sync Calendar" all turned on? (note these are not on the same screen as where you put your Traveler server info)
