New Blackberry user on secondhand playbook

Good day,

I hope you can assist.

I recently purchased a blackberry playbook. The previous owner's Blackberry details is still appearing and in order to remove this (as per previous support query) I need to:

1. Backup

2. Security wipe the playbook

3. Reload the backup information.

I dont want to jump to step two as I have been using the playbook and there is nifty applications and books that I do not want to lose. I have all the lastest software installed on my desktop as well as on the playbook. (lastest - as per last update 15.12.2012).  The device link up perfectly with my Blackberry Desktop software and I am able to access the save file information, but unable to back up the device. Every time that i start with the back up - the screen of the playbook switches to the blackberry login and I dont thave the previous owners details. And due to this the backup is left incompleted and a error appears on my laptop screen and I am unable to proceed with the next steps.

Can anyone please assist of how I can get step 1 done, without the link to be broken. I would love to load my blackberry details on the details in order to get the full linked functionality of the playbook.

Thank you kindly

Liesl

Re: New Blackberry user on secondhand playbook

It sounds like your PlayBook may have applications installed on it, which were purchased by the previous owner, and you want those same purchased applications to be available on the PlayBook after your wipe and reload. Is that correct?

Re: New Blackberry user on secondhand playbook

No. You will need to re-purchase the PAID apps yourself.

Any free apps, of course you can download again free.

The license on the paid applications is to the user, not to the device. So, when you login your PlayBook with your BlackBerryID, after the security wipe, you will be presented with a fresh device. You will go to AppWorld and download fresh the apps you want on the device.

Sorry, not a way around that. You didn't purchase those applications.

Re: New Blackberry user on secondhand playbook

Hello,

Thank you for your help - it was mind boggling to me :smileyhappy:

How can I back up the books that I have purchased through my kindle app?

Or is there no way to do a back up of any sort before I wipe?

Re: New Blackberry user on secondhand playbook

On whose account, yours or the previous owner, were those books purchased?

Re: New Blackberry user on secondhand playbook

I created my own Kindle profile and login details - but the app was already loaded on the blackberry playbook when I purchased it. Will the ebooks not be saved on their website somewhere?
