I purchased my Playbook in June 2011 and have nothing but disappointment.  I need to open rtf files and I am unable to. I contacted Dataviz(Docs to go) and was told the RIM was responsible for the application on the playbook and RIM told me to call them.  I just found out 5 min ago that RIM owns them.

I downloaded Files and Folders as it said it could convert rtf files to docs through google docs......it didn't work.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I changed my BB Storm phone plan so I could tether my playbook to it but thats a confusing pile of dung.

gmail keeps telling me that I lost connection so I just change to the desktop mode and its fine. Let alone the fact that its so slow its a waste of my time.

I commented to RIM all this as well as the fact that a task with a due date won't show up on my calendar on my Playbook but it does show up on my Storm.  This still hasnt been corrected.

The concepts here are great its to bad that they don't work.

Can anyone help me.  I spent a lot of money on this and am feeling that I made a big mistake cancelling my order for an Ipad.   .

There seems to be a bug in the RTF conversion with Google Docs. We're investigating whether this bug is in our app (which we can fix) or in Google Docs (which we can't).

Same here. Got an .rtf in my email. Cant do anything with it. Just a shame.

I've just bought my Playbook--and immediately hit the .rtf problem. The only way round it I have found is to convert the file to a .pdf then it is accessible thru PDF reader. Course have to do that thru the pc--a bit long winded but at least I can read them on the go. Converting them to a .doc didn't work! I have Docs To Go on the BB

With the app Ghost Commander it is possible to inspect the contents of a rtf-file. Unfortunately with the formatting included.....

This may be old news by now, but the "File Converter" app for Playbook solves the rft problem beautifully. Simply convert to .doc, etc. http://www.fileconverteronline.com/blackberry/

I think it was only $3 Cdn for me. Small price to pay for the ease of use and versatility. Maybe there are better + cheaper apps available, but I was not and am still not aware of them. Maybe others have alternatives to suggest. Nevertheless, I remain happy with this one. Cheers.

Yep that's about £2.  Brits get ripped off again...

I was hoping that the OS2.1 would read rtf but it doesn't.

Whenever people send me obsolete Microsoft proprietary garbage like .rtf and .wmv I just write back and ask THEM to convert it to a universal format. MS thinks they are the standard but that's just Redmond megalomania.
