My playbook seems to be bricked!
I have tried the three button reset DIDN'T work (it's worked before).
Plugged it into my PC (no device detected), ran the Desktop software and held down the power button for 10+ seconds and still nothing!
The device appears to be dead!
I don't know if it's still powered on as the volume is too low for me to hear the click of a screen capture (+ and -)!
Please help, I got this device in the UK less two weeks ago and it'll be pretty hard to ship it back!
PS: My battery was roughly 90% charged when I ran the update!

The battery on my PB got down to 0 %. I cannot turn it on to charge. I have tried holding down the power button for 10 seconds, holding down the power button with the + and - volume keys, and even tried a stack charge of plugging the PB in for two minutes and off for two minutes for about an hour. Nothing works. Any ideas?

I am assuming you are using the original charger for the Playbook. Some people are trying to use the phone charger, and which is not adequate for the proper rate of charge.
I had a problem simlar to yours with a Playbook. I was able to get the charge working again using the Rapid charger for the Playbook. It puts out much more power than the regular Playbook charger.
Normally, by pressing the power button along with both the Vol+ and Vol- buttons, this should allow for a full re-set. Doing this a fair number of times with the charger connected should normally get it to initialize to allow charging. It could take many tries.
The problem with most of these tablets and some laptops, is when the battery is completely flat the internal power controler will not start up to allow charging. This controler is run by its own mangement processor that receives commands and sends back status information to and from the system controler. If the battery is too much discharged, there is not enough power to get the control cycle operating to allow the internal power controler to start working. This is why I stress very strongly to users to never let the battery run completely flat.

Thanks for the advice. I had just received the Playbook and had a friend of mine set it up for me as I did not have wireless internet. Unfortunately, the battery drained and now I am in this predicament. I assume I have to purchase the rapid charger separately. I will look for one of those today.

My original PB stopped working; when the power button was depressed there was a red light followed by five blinking green lights. I spent a LOT of time on the phone with support and they finally had me send the PB back to them. They replaced it. Had the replacement for several days and now it is doing exactly what the first one did. But the s/n for this one is not being accepted for the 90 days of complementary support and an email received a standard "non answer"...essentially I guess I now have to pay for support for my replacement???

Charge it for 30 min with OEM charger, do the 3 button reset for 20 seconds
repeat above a few times and it should turn back on
I have done this many times with my kids playbook as they never charge it.
