I exchanged my Playbook at Best Buy. They said the red flashing light was a diagnostic routine. And that because of the blinking the Playbook was unable to boot, so it was toast. I think the only thing to do is to exchange the device.

I believe you are probably correct. But I hope not. I won't be back in a country where there is a Best Buy or Future Shop for another 4.5 months!

My friends is the 32Gb and did the same thing. I was wondering if that is a trend, because mine is the 16Gb. I haven't had any problems. Thank Jesus. Also, his button was kind of depressed when he got it. He noticed when he used mine. Mine sticks up and sort of clicks, but his is almost flat to the frame.

Got these problem:
My brother bought a playbook in UK last month (February) then he sends it to me in the Philippines. After I update it to OS 2.0 last February 21 (update is completed no problem occured) it runs smoothly but on the 24th of February it suddenly wont charge at all until it goes flat dead 0% charge. Right now it wont even turn on just the red light and 5 green flash afterwards.
Ive tried several fixes found in this forum and nothing works.
Help needed on what to do with it.
tnx.

Are you using the original charger for the Playbook? If so, is it electrically matched for the mains power for your location?
The Playbook cannot be properly charged using a phone charger, or a USB port. It requires the Playbook charger.
Below is a procedure that I have seen work:
If you are using the Playbook charger and the battery is near to or at dead and is not defective; while connected to the charger, press and hold for about 6 seconds the red re-set button at the top. Repeat this about every five to ten minutes for about 10 times. If the charge action still does not occure, then I would think something in the tablet became defective. The tablet would have to be sent to RIM for service.
You should call RIM support for your region to find out if they can offfer a suggestion that nobody in these groups thought of...
