PlayBook dead

I made a mistake and plugged  a wrong cable from my usb port on my laptop  to the hdmi socket on my playbook, now I have no red light on the playbook which looks completly dead.  Would I have caused a short circuit on the Mother board? or are there any othe ways of checking why I appears dead, I have tried all the usual start up suggestions to no avail, battery reading 3.8 volts, any suggestions welcome, or is the answer recycle?.

Thanks to all in advance.

Re: PlayBook dead

Since the USB port provides 5v to the device for charging it is highly likely you fried it since the HDMI port is not designed to take voltage.
