PlayBook screen unresponsive

Even before I upgraded tonOS2.0, I was experiencing frequent screen freezes when I turn on my playbook. Now, I have to hard reset at least nine times before I can use my playbook. It's driving me crazy. I bought it last November 2011 as a second hand unit and I'm sure there's no no warranty.

Re: PlayBook screen unresponsive

You have 90 days free support on the device, from RIM. Have you contacted them yet?

Try this...

Connect to desktop manager and powercycle the playbook while clicking on update in desktop manager.

This will let desktop manager think it is bricked and desktop manager will download the OS from RIM and hopefully get you working smoothly again.

Re: PlayBook screen unresponsive

Please forgive my ignorance but what do you mean by powercycle? I have already updated to OS2.0 so that means I would update again?

Re: PlayBook screen unresponsive

Good day. I reinstalled Os2.0 this morning by doing the powercycle thing you suggested. Things went okay, initially. Now, I'm typing using remote control. The playbook doesn't respond to my finger taps (again), even if I restart it. I think I have to restart about 10 times before it responds. This is really frustrating.

I don't know what else to tell you. You bought a second hand unit and you might have bought a dud.

Re: PlayBook screen unresponsive

Well, all I know is that everything was fine for four months. And after that, the PlayBook started going haywire. Does that make it a dud?

Re: PlayBook screen unresponsive

Have you by any chance installed a bad App? There are a few that lock up the screen but generally the OS tends to clear and resumes normal operation after a few minutes. However the bad App has to be closed. If this is a possibility, try removing Apps that may initiate the screen freezing.

You have a 1 year warranty.  Try contacting support for a RMA.
