Personnally, it took me about 15 times until I found the exact procedure, gathered from several posts here and on crackberry. It was probably because something was corrupted in my OS 1.
1-Connect Playbook to PC USB port.
2-Launch Blackberry desktop
3-Backup everything.
4-On playbook, press Power & Volume - & Volume + util shutdown and red light appears.
5-Playbook will start a reload process.
6-Watch Blackberry desktop. At one point, there will be a window poping up saying it cannot connect, and if you want to upgrade the software. This is what you are looking for. Do reload from this window on desktop.
7-Careful not to remove the USB
8-Follow instructions.
9-After everything, my applications & data was wissing. So I Restored from my Backup.

Thanks a lot. This actually worked for me althouth I did not have to do the hard reset. Using the Desktop software did the trick.
However, now it's thelling me there is another update (roughly 21MB) that I cannot update from the Desktop and I can't seem to be able to update the device. It keeps saying that it's being interrupted. Any ideas anyone?
