Playbook App World Error

I called Tech Support last night but they were useless.

After updating to 2.0 my App World has stopped working. It says that I am not connected to the network but everything else works. My browser and everything.

I ahve swiped twice. Any ideas?

Re: Playbook App World Error

What do you mean you have "swiped" twice?

Try this, go to the PlayBook options > Date/Time settings. Set your year at least 3 years in the future. and Save that.

Now, go back and set your year correctly, save and try AppWorld again.

Let me know if this works.

Re: Playbook App World Error

Swipe means that I have erased and put it back to factory settings.

I have tried the time change that you outlined and that did not work either.

Re: Playbook App World Error

Ok. Swipe on a PlayBook means you brushed your finger across the screen from one bezel to the other, like to close a screen, etc.

You mean "Wipe".

When attempting to use AppWorld, are you seeing anything about a "certificate error" etc.?

Re: Playbook App World Error

Yea its the same thing. Its actually called swipe on the PB.

No, there is no certificate error. It just says app world can not connect to app world to check your network connections.

My network is working though.

Re: Playbook App World Error

No, wiping and reloading the PlayBook operating system is not called "swipe" on the PlayBook, hence my confusion of what you've actually done.

Here, in RIM documentation, are mentions of "swipe" referring to using your finger to swipe up or down from the bezel to close or open options and screens.

Article ID: KB26514 Using a wireless keyboard and mouse with the BlackBerry® PlayBook™

Article ID: KB26130 How to customize the appearance of the BlackBerry PlayBook

Here mentions of "wipe" in RIM documentation, referencing to remove all data, etc.:

Article ID: KB27188 How to perform a security wipe on a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet

Article ID: KB26937 How deleting all data from a BlackBerry smartphone affects the connected BlackBerry PlayBook work data

So, I am not sure what you've done. Perhaps it was a 'wipe', but you are free to call it what you want, just helps in here so we know what you're speaking of. I had no idea what your "swipe" will do to your Playbook.

Regardless, do this, go find some free, no-password, WiFi hotspot, like a McDonalds or library, coffee shop, and see if you can see any OPEN WiFi spots, and ultimately connect.

Thanks.

Re: Playbook App World Error

So JerryDee, what else have you done that I can rule out since everything I am suggesting, you have done, and doesn't work?

What else? Save us all some time.

Re: Playbook App World Error

Sorry, you do not have to get an attitude.

I had not done what you suggested but I live next to a fast food place so I simply walked acoss the street and connected to their hot spot and tried it.

I ahve reset my router, i have tried changing the year to the future like it suggested in other forums and that is about it. I did call BB last night as I said earlier and they said it was a known isssue but they also said it would be fixed within the hour.

Re: Playbook App World Error

Well, sorry for my attitude, but re-read this thread... wouldn't you begin to ask "What else have you done?" It's a fair question.

So, I have three playbooks in my house. Last night, two of them exhibited the VERY same AppWorld issues you're describing (a third PlayBook at home did not), and I saw others having the same issue. This morning, my two PlayBooks connected ok, AFTER the simple reset and opening AppWorld to download an updated app.

That fixed it for me.

I think you need to call your PlayBook support back.

I'd suggest a complete de-brick procedure if you want go through that?
