Playbook Upgrade

Recent news mentions RIM upgrading software (new operating system by download) this February plus access to many Android apps. Will we be able to upgrade our current devices or does this mean buying an entirely new playbook?

Re: Playbook Upgrade

So far all I've seen updates on from ces is a calendar, email, and some crappy propriatary vid chat.
So I have to assume that this is the best they have going.
Obviously with the amount of cash they had spent on pushing their product there, they would be going with their best and greatest technologies.
So I believe it's fair to say that there will be no netflix, no Skype, no access to other devices via the USB port and no full access to android app library.
They will probably hand pick what android apps they will let us use.

What a bunch of **bleep**.

Re: Playbook Upgrade

There was a lot more in the OS 2 press release than just what you mentioned.  Try doing your homework before starting a rant.  BTW, if you want netflix, you could try buying an android tablet.  Of course, you might check the android forums first, since the app either doesn't work or works very poorly with some popular tablets.  Toshiba, for instance, still hasn't updated their status to indicate they even support using it.  It works on phones but NOT on all android tablets even after the 3.X upgrade.

Re: Playbook Upgrade

maybe I missed some updates from ces.
Perhaps you could show me some of your homework and post a link on this forum of other features and options I may have missed on searching on different forums and search engines
thanks in advance..
I have my playbook for sale at a discounted price with the defender case and a new screen guard. All I've had for offers is a pair of fake oakley sunglasses in trade....
Want to take it off my hands and I'll get an android tablet like you suggested
