Playbook locked up after update

I updated my playbook to OS 2 and it worked fine for half a day. Now I cannot get it to turn on, hard reset won't do anything, when I try to connect it to my desktop it will not connect.

What do I do?

Re: Playbook locked up after update

Try this, while connected to your charger. Press and hold the Power key, up and down volume (-/+) all three buttons simultaneously, for about 10-12 seconds. You should the red LED blink and that should allow a reset of the PlayBook and to power up.

Don't say "that doesn't work". Explain what you DO see... any blinking red LED on the top bezel?

anything you DO see?

Re: Playbook locked up after update

Hi I had the same, contacted the BB helpdesk and they came up with the following:

1 Press the powerbutton for about 20 seconds

2 Charge PB for 2 minutes (use stopwatch)

3 Disconnect powercable for 8 seconds

You have to repeat step 2 and 3  total of  10 times. Then reboot by pressing power and + key for 22 seconds.

Amazingly this worked with my frozen PB. Hope the same with yours

Excellent information, I am going to recommend that to others with this issue.

Re: Playbook locked up after update

When I did that the screen does nothing. The red light flashes once, then a pause, then flashes 4 times.

Re: Playbook locked up after update

I have exactly the same issue.

My Playbook froze during the update (during download, not install)

I restarted, but it never turned on.

All I get now is a red light flashing in the same sequence as you: blink pause blink blink blink blink

I phoned customer services, and they talked me through hard resets, but nothing helped.

The desktop software can't 'see' the playbook at all so I can't re-install the OS.

Eventually after consulting with a 'senior analyst at RIM' , customer services decided it was a battery issue, and they are sending me a rapid charger. But I'm not sure that will help as my battery was fully charged when I started the update.

I have a feeling I'll have to send it in for repair.

Let me know if you find a solution :smileyhappy:

did not help. Still all i can get it to do is the red light flash once, then pause, then flash 4 times.
