Playbook not able to connect to Mac

I am having major problems with connecting my playbook to my MAC to share music etc...

When attempting to connect via USB there is an error message saying "The computer cannot communicate with the device" and says that to communicate with the device, you need to configure the "RIM network device" interface. And the button says open network preferences. I have no clue what to do from here

I also tried to connect it via wifi... I went to connect to server and typed in SMB:\\and the device ip address however another error message pops up saying "connection failed". It says the server smb may not exist or it is unavailable...

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Re: Playbook not able to connect to Mac

Hey jake_b,

Have a look at these two articles, they should help you out.

How to transfer files to and from the BlackBerry PlayBook

How to synchronize media from a computer to a BlackBerry PlayBook

Re: Playbook not able to connect to Mac

I've read the articles and tried to follow the Transfer Files article for the Mac.  There are problems with this article.

I have installed the latest Mac version of Desktop V2.2.1 and it syncs the PB with iTunes with no problems (almost, anyway, but a subject for further analysis).

Folder and File access is a bit of a mystery, however:

First, when I plug the PlayBook into the Mac, two entries show up in Finder under Shared: The PlayBook name is one entry and the other is an IP address.  If I click on the PlayBook name I get a Connection Failed message.  If I click on the IP address I get the PlayBook file structure with Certs and Media.

If I try to follow the Article, nothing seems to make sense.  Per the article, I find the IP address of the PlayBook ends in .202 and this is not the same as the IP address just above it in Finder that ends in .201      Apparently the PlayBook presents two IP addresses to the Mac.   Accessing by clicking on the IP address in Finder/Shared works; accessing by name or via its different IP address does not work.  When I try the GO and SMB instructions, I get get a message to Mount the IP address and list containing Certs and Media, but Media is greyed out and can't be selected.

By the way, I have a password on wifi access set in my PlayBook, per recommendations, and nowhere in the Articles is there a step to supply a password.

The password doesn't seem to protect the data on the PlayBook anyway, because I can click on Finder/Shared/ IP address and get access to the Media folder without any password prompt.
