Playbook shocks when charging

My playbook is shoking  sometimes while charging, if I touch the metal frame :smileyhappy: It is not the big deal, I can only feel it if it touch it by part of my hand, where skin is thin (not fingers), but anyway it is funny. Does anyone else have this issue?

If you mean a light tingling when you rub your skin along it, and made worse when the other hand is grounded, it's quite common on many unearthed  so-called double-insulated consumer devices. My two grand Macbook does it too. Annoying but harmless. Not good to handle the playbook when connected to usb anyway. if you need to charge and work at the same time invest in a rapid charger with magnetic connector

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. It is not hard, but I was just wondering if that is ok.

I would say it's OK but annoying. My playbook does not do it, my Mac and my HiFi do.

Re: Playbook shocks when charging

I've never noticed this from my PlayBook, or the three Playbooks our family has.

Re: Playbook shocks when charging

It is caused by static electricity and more common in very dry conditions such as in winter. I have had it happen twice on my PlayBook and it actually caused it to shut down.

Re: Playbook shocks when charging

Many years ago devices connectec to the mains, especially here in Europe on 240 Volts, had 3 pins on the connector. These days all have 2 pins, or three but the earth is plastic. It's low level voltage at 50Hz induced or leaked from the transformer in the cases I described.

Try another charger if it bothers you, or try earthing the case temporarily with a wire to a water pipe to test the theory - it should disappear.

On our side of the pond, we call that "grounding".  Same difference.

Ah yes I can see how strange that may sound then!
