I have PC Recipe Box on my tablet and I can backup my Playbook every few days no problem

There may be more than one app causing the problem, so deleting only Recipe Box may not be enough.
I've heard the problem may involve apps with many files, perhaps causing a timeout of some kind. If you're still having the problem, consider whether any of your still-installed apps are ones which may include or download literally thousands of files. If you have any like that (they're not that common... most apps have a few hundred at most, usually only a dozen) consider deleting it, do the restart and/or delay mentioned in this or other threads that mention Recipe Box, and try the backup again.

omfg, I have this problem and that app too.
you have to wonder, after so many people complained and I know deviecs were sent back for repair (I followed the threads) why did RIM not do their due diligence and perform a debug on a unit?
well, I suppose they have bigger things to worry about than keeping customers happy. Thanks for the fix Brian.

Finally got a clean PlayBook.
Here are some "general" suggestions. I have to warn you this is a complete PITA. I had to remove over 230 applications to make this work.

#3) Quick Failure: Immediate PlayBook Backup Failure, Keeping your Data
This failure usually occurs at 100 bytes. It happens frequently. This failure is likely an OS corruption of some kind or timeout reading some file. It happens about 4 out of 5 times. But it works 1 out of 5 times. It can also be caused by sideloading the Android 1 player onto your PB as it prevents backups by some strange corruption to the file system.

#4) Partial Failure: Part way through backup your backup fails, Keeping your Data
This is believed to be caused by a faulty application installation. The apps vary widely from PC Recipes, to Weather apps, to News apps. But I've developed a "method" for identifying this.
