Yes, unplug and replug multiple tries, nothing. My husband's charger for his playbook, nothing. I don't see how the USB port could be damaged as it is alway covered in my case. The only time it is exposed is when it is being charged on my desk. This is so frustrating.
I appreciate you trying to help me. Looks like I'll head to Best Buy and see if they can find anything wrong with the USB port.

It doesn't matter if it is covered, they are fragile.
I'd advise you to call your PlayBook support number, they have been good about replacing these.
