My playbook has been on charge but wont start up, i have connected to desktop but it wont connect, it shutdown during a download and appears not to be charging or opening up.

I have tried holding down the start button with the volume buttond for 15 sec and waiting a minuite and holding down the start button, but that has not worked.

Re: Playbook wont charge and wont switch on

Connect the Playbook to a known good charger. The OEM wall charger is the best choice unless you have one of the rapid chargers.

Let it charge for several hours. Even 24 hours. With it STILL connected to the charger, press and hold down the POWER button only, for about 20 seconds. Try this every few hours.

Re: Playbook wont charge and wont switch on

I have the same problem.  I have tried all the options suggested and nothing works.  Do I really have to pay $49 to find out what to do next?  My playbook is still under warranty but I don't have free phone calls for service.

Re: Playbook wont charge and wont switch on

Mine did the same thing, I think it was when the battery totally drained...I kept trying the above things, and disconnecting and reconnecting it to my computer periodically, and eventually it started back up. It's almost like as  stock car with it runs dry....hard to get started back up.

KEEP it connected to the known good charger. Several hours, even 24 hours. Leave it.

Come back and press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. You can try this several times during that period, the key being to LEAVE it connected to the charging source while pressing and holding the power button for 20 seconds.

Re: Playbook wont charge and wont switch on

Hello, I had the same problem few days ago.

Let it on charge for several hours, press and hold power button every 2-3 min for a few times.

But the actual solution is the software reset that you need to do. For this, plug in your PB to a computer USB port and while connected, press and hold power button for 10-15 seconds, you will hear a beep.

Then connect it to the wall charger, use original charger not any USB charger.

Good luck.

Yes, keep charging. Keep trying. Keep pressing the power key for 20 seconds.
