So the playbook doesn't support netflix?

This really bothers me. The whole reason I bought this was so I could watch movies after recuperating from my surgey. I don't want to toss it back quite yet. Where can I stream movies to play> Keep in mind I'm a tech novice.

Re: So the playbook doesn't support netflix?

Sorry for the bad news but it was Netflix that chose not to support the PB the decision was taken away from RIM by Netflix if you want to complain go to them or go to Crackberry.com and sign their petition to Netflix to support the PB.  Other than that I hope you find other uses that will please you with the PB.

Re: So the playbook doesn't support netflix?

It's not the the PlayBook doesn't support Netflix - Netflix have specifically stated that PlayBook support isn't in development.

All we can hope for is that someone else converts the Android Netflix app into a PlayBook BAR file which can be sideloaded onto OS 2.0.

Which doesn't answer the basic question, where do we get movies?

Re: So the playbook doesn't support netflix?

Outside of the US there's no service (as far as I can tell) that will allow you to purchase and stream videos to the PlayBook. If you can obtain movies elsewhere in a compatible video format (mp4, etc) that are DRM free then you can copy them via USB or WiFi and watch them on the PlayBook video app.

As for Netflix, there have been multiple posts about the fact that they have stated that they will not develop for the PlayBook. If streaming Netflix videos (or anyone's videos) was your primary purpose for buying the device then you probably should have confirmed this support before purchasing.

Re: So the playbook doesn't support netflix?

Punchy,

Get an Amazon Prime Membership.  Besides free 2-day shipping for a year, you get access to tons of free streaming movies and tv shows.  I believe it works via wi-fi, but maybe not via tether.  I can't test wi-fi because I'm at work, but I think I've done it with the Playbook before.

Good luck!
