Hi there, if anyone has any ideas on how to find the serial number of my playbook, please let me know... I had it synced to my PC and bridged to my blackberry, also had splash app on my playbook that allowed me to access my PC, so maybe its stored somewhere... any help/ideas would be appreciated... My cousin gave me they playbook a few weeks ago and hopefully he will come through with the box or receipt, but I am impatient lol and until I hear from him I'm trying to find other ways to retrieve the serial. My playbook was stolen today from the beach, right out of my sons stroller!!I called RIM and they can block the playbook with the serial so that it becomes useless to the jerks who stole it and then hopefully they will see my kijiji ads and get it returned to me, even if they put it in the trash, just knowing they can't use it will make me happy....... *fingers crossed*
Also, the super nice gentlemen I connected with via Kijiji who had his playbook stolen and then returned after having it locked said the following: "I didn't have the serial number when I called playbook support. What I did have though was the blackberry desktop software on my laptop, where the playbook PIN is stored, even though the playbook is not connected. With the PIN, my BB ID (email address) and registration contact info, RIM was satisfied, provided me with the serial number and locked the playbook."
I'm not finding the pin or any direction on how to find it, Clearly I'm impatient waiting to hear from my cousin, so if someone could help me find the pin it would be great!
Here is the ad I put on Kijiji, I put the same one on used Ottawa as well: http://ottawa.kijiji.ca/c-community-lost-found-LF-
let me know if there are any other identifiers that could help find it....
any ideas on how to maybe get the serial number remotely would be very helpful, I'm good with computers so any suggestions could help

I really wanna just get this playbook locked!
Thank you in advance,

Do you have the box? serial # usually somewhere on the box...if I remember correctly. Also if you purchased it from futureshop/best buy, they usually include that on the reciept.
Hope that helps....

My cousin gave it to me when he got an ipad, he is usually pretty good about keeping that stuff, I have messaged him, and now I am just waiting to hear back from him, its late here but I am on a mission and impatient, I really just want get the playbook locked asap.... I had is synced with my PC and had splash installed, I'm trying to at least find the pin, but for whatever reason the desktop software is not on my laptop or PC which I don't understand since we've synced it with both, I'm hoping that the pin at least is somewhere, maybe registry or something, it was also added to my wifi so maybe something could be there? I have it bridged to my bb as well so the pin should be somewhere in my bb, right?

As far as I know bridge won't display your PB pin....
but desktop app does for sure...
try launching desktop manager from here if you can't find it in your start menu:
if you have a win 64 bit
C:\Program Files (x86)\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Desktop\Rim.Desktop.exe
C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Desktop\Rim.Desktop.exe

Its not there... and I don't understand why... we had it plugged into our PC today and transferred files, I know I set it up with the desktop manager on my laptop when I got it, I did a factory reset as it was the only way to remove my cousins bb id and put mine on it. I'm sooo keeping my fingered crossed that my cousin has the box or can help find the pin. any suggestions as to where else it could be found would be appriciated, as previously mentioned, I had it bridged with my bb, set up with splash on my PC and the play book software does show up in the bb dev manager, I've attached screenshots.

OK try this....
I have windows 7....so hopefully u r on the same boat:
look under this folder :
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Desktop\iAnywhereConfig
there should be a folder with your pin as the name
if you can't find that, try this:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader History
You should see a file with 0x<your pin>.xml
Also try this:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Desktop\Devices
there should be a folder with your pin as the name

this is so frustrating, none of those work on my laptop or PC its as if it was never installed which I know is not the case, I don't get it.... Could I find it in the registry maybe? How about via the Splash desktop launcher? We had it synced with splash today on the desktop so there should be something somewhere, right?... Thanks for the reply!
