Hello
I copied some videos created with a Flip video camera from my PC to the PlayBook. They are AVI files.
The video plays fine but without any sound. I suspect it is a codec issue as when I first got the Flip camera I did have to install a codec on the PC.
To test the PlayBook I recorded a video and there is sound.
Any suggestions?

Hi tprobert65,
You are likely correct. The BlackBerry® PlayBook™ may not support the audio codec associated with that recording. The following article lists all of the supported media types and codecs on the BlackBerry® PlayBook™.
Thanks.

You can transcode them into a format that the Playbook can play using a free and open source program called Handbrake. http://handbrake.fr/ The Internet is full of tutorials on how to use it. YouTube has lots of instructional videos too, type in Handbrake Tutorials and customize from there depending on your O/S. That's the quickest way to get schooled.
The Playbook is pretty darn good playing videos thrown at it as it is, but you've discovered one codec that it can't deal with and so that's why I suggest transcoding.
By the way, if ever you come across a FLV (Adobe Flash Video) that you want to play on it, you should look into the app FLV Movie Player, it works great - or again, you could transcode it.
