WLAN Problem since 2.0.1.358

Hi,

since I update my Playbook to OS 2.0.1.358 I have problems with the WLAN. I can't connect to a FRITZBox with WPA2.

This work wonderful with the previous OS. Version

To get connect again I have to exclude 802.11N.

With 802.11b+g now it I am able to connect again. But this is not a permanent solution for me because I have an old PDA with 802.11N

regards

Stephan

Re: WLAN Problem since 2.0.1.358

The pb has a problem with n mode. Mine connects but drops set the g mode works flawlessly. Main reason is that when I am within. 5 feed of the router n mode works.

Re: WLAN Problem since 2.0.1.358

Hi,

I've also got Wlan problems since upgrade, keeps dropping out within 3ft of router! I've tried switching off wireless N on router (B & G only) but just as bad. It was working well before the upgrade. I can't see any other improvements with this latest upgrade so can we roll back - probably not! so will have to wait for a fix from RIM unless anyone knows any different?

Re: WLAN Problem since 2.0.1.358

Hi,

Since posting my last message I decided to bite the bullet and do a complete re-install using the desktop software (there is previous thread with instructions ). It takes quite a time but it has worked wifi now back to normal. (also gives you a chance to decide whether to re-install those really useful apps??? You downloaded when you first got the playbook - mine is a lot lighter now lol)

Refer to KB26522 - 802.11n for some info.

WLAN Problem since 2.0.1.358

a business traveller doesn't have access to the options of wlan networks he is using. Very urgent that RIM deliviers even a hotfix for this.

I'm a little bit disappointed. Until last year RIM was a reliably and stable technology vendor, but now we're seeing that the quality of firmware on all devices is getting worser and worser. :smileysad:

Re: WLAN Problem since 2.0.1.358

802.11n - Configuration does not allow TKIP OR WEP data encryption by design. Must use AES.

Re: WLAN Problem since 2.0.1.358

Sure, but a playbook must connect to an accesspoint using WPA + WPA2. And only a playbook is facing issues, other devices not.

Re: WLAN Problem since 2.0.1.358

And after some testing. Playbook causes wlan issues wit wlan-n and aes only, since last update. The mentioned kb article isn't facing this issue.

Again a broken firmware from RIM.

Re: WLAN Problem since 2.0.1.358

You are absolutely correct. The PlayBook is the only tablet that has received AES Approval. My PB uses WPA and AES along with 802.11g and I have not had any problem getting on and staying on any network. I realize that many do have problems but they should also check out the Knowledge Base information for assistance.
