bad charger connection

Hello, purchased a Playbook online from The Source for wife xmas past. She put it away  until last week. Needed charge - however, charger male will not fit in female Playbook slot. Had a tech at The Source examine the unit; he has seen a couple like this where the unit seems damaged. Do not want to force the connectors and void warranty. Trying to contact RIM is like chasing a friend who owes me money - lots of numbers, no contact. Help, please.

Micro usb should push in easily IF

1. Blackberry logo is facing up when looking at the screen

2. You use the middle socket

3. The  little flat piece in centre of socket is straight not bent up or down. Use a magnifying glass

I have been through that jungle several times. I need a guide. After selecting option 2 , I get choices that don't seem to relate to my issue. Is it expensive to have a repair connection installed? Thanks

I've never called the #, but if you choose something, you should be able to get to a rep who can send you to the right person.
