when i visit google maps in the playbook browser i can't input an address to search. the map part seems to work fine but it's no good for searching an address. perhaps it will when the android player is available for the playbook?

This to me does not make any sense!
As a user, the Google maps are just another web page that I would like to be able to use. The same for Yahoo maps. I can access on my PC whatever I like when I like!
As an end user, I should not be blocked from any web pages that are considered safe and secure for using.

Here's a woraround (or two) for this problem:
Just tap the "Maps" link at the top of the main Google page (www.google.com). You will be taken to the Google maps page with the cursor positioned in the address field and the keyboard already popped up and ready for typing the address.
You can also type the address in the search box on the main google page and tap the "Maps" link at the top. In this case you will be taken to the maps page with the address already entered and the search already done.

Hi thanks for the solution. I did notice one weird thing though when i access google.ca and click maps there is no keyboard and tapping in the search bar produces no keyboard. however when i access google.com (and am redirected to google.ca as i am located in Canada, THEN the keyboard pops up and i can do the search on google maps. thanks again for the solution

hi again. for whatever reason sometimes the keyboard pops up and sometimes it doesn't regardless of google.com, google.ca, or google.uk don't know why. BUT if i go to google and just type in the "google maps + address" i get a result for the address typed in. the search bar is still dead but at least i have the map of the area i want.
