Re: google maps doesn't work in the blackberry playbook browser

This to me does not make any sense!

As a user, the Google maps are just another web page that I would like to be able to use. The same for Yahoo maps. I can access on my PC whatever I like when I like!

As an end user, I should not be blocked from any web pages that are considered safe and secure for using.

Here's a woraround (or two)  for this problem:

Just tap the "Maps" link at the top of the main Google page (www.google.com). You will be taken to the Google maps page with the cursor positioned in the address field and the keyboard already popped up and ready for typing the address.

You can also type the address in the search box on the main google page and tap the "Maps" link at the top. In this case you will be taken to the maps page with the address already entered and the search already done.

I did notice one weird thing though when i access google.ca and click maps there is no keyboard and tapping in the search bar produces no keyboard. however when i access google.com (and am redirected to google.ca as i am located in Canada, THEN the keyboard pops up and i can do the search on google maps. thanks again for the solution

Re: google maps doesn't work in the blackberry playbook browser

hi again. for whatever reason sometimes the keyboard pops up and sometimes it doesn't regardless of google.com, google.ca, or google.uk don't know why. BUT if i go to google and just type in the "google maps + address" i get a result for the address typed in. the search bar is still dead but at least i have the map of the area i want.

Re: google maps doesn't work in the blackberry playbook browser

I went to Google.ca and typed in the location, and then clicked on maps. Now there was text in the box with an active cursor. I got the keyboard up by swiping it up. Swipe on a diagninal from the lower left corner towarnds the center.

Once the keyboard was up, I backspaced to erase the address location. I simply typed in the new one and pressed Return on the keyboard. To hide the keyboard I pressed the keyboard icon-key in its lower left.

It was your advice that gave me to hint for the rest.

Re: google maps doesn't work in the blackberry playbook browser

Hi Jerry. hooray i got the keyboard up. thanks for the advice. Bing's satellite views are not too bad but i really find the street view on google maps the best. Cheers, Fred
