I am a little confused from the offset.
"I purchased one of these http://www.amazon.com/Incase-EC20037-Mini-Charger-
You are in the UK like me yet you got the device from Amazon.com, and also you say from the Apple store. What adapter do you actually have?
I was referring to checking that the adapter actually gives out 4.5 volts, not to check the vehicle output.
The change to 2.1 regarding USB is to issue a warning message. You can still charge via USB it's just that if the current is too low such as 0.5A from a PC it gives a warning. I set off a music sync that took several hours (never again) yet the playbook charged from 50% to 100% from the PC USB despite the warning.
I just tried the BB cable with a Ring 1 amp cigarette lighter adapter from Wilkinsons that will charge most things. It will not charge the Playbook. The ipod charger will not charge it. The Nokon P300 USB charger will charge the Playbook. No idea why some do and some don't.

Hello TroyTempest. I thank you for your interest and help and guidance to date.
The Nikon P300 USB charger appears to be a mains charger with a usb connection. My mains cahrger works correctly. However, I need a vehicle connection (12v lighter input) to use a Navigation programme in the Playbook whilst on the move. If I were to drive a long time the battery would run down. (I have a motorhome and wish to travel on the continent next year and would liket to get this system working).
I'm still trying

Ross

I have read most of the threads with regards to charging a PlayBook in a vehicle and I use a standard blackberry in car charger, the same one as I use to charge my BlackBerry 9900 mobile phone which I purchased from my local mobile phone shop for just under £20. It plugs into my cigarette / power point socket.

LOOKS like it should. Not a huge financial risk in trying it.

Rossjackson, for the record mneon8's information is incorrect. Ignore it.
I second this. He's just raving on about something "he thinks" is correct but it's not. Don't get distracted by something completely untrue.
