Re: inquiry

Developers are able to use tools provided by RIM to convert their existing android applications into a format that can run on the Playbook. Officially they are available in the App World on the Playbook.

You can currently use the tools provided to convert applications your self to side load but RIM are looking at stopping this soon so only official developers can do this.

Re: inquiry

So, what do we do after repeated attempts to request an app to be ported, is denied by the developers?

These are apps needed for business. I don't need, "Need For Speed".

I purchased the PB thinking BB was all about business, not  games.  I would have bought a PSP if that's what I wanted.

Sorry to say this, but we are stuck with "toys, not tools".

There is no help from BB in regards to this issue.

Sorry but I've been biting my tongue, having faith BB would pull through with their software deficit, but I might have to buy an Android or Apple to get the tools I'm looking for.

I would encourage you to check Appworld on a regular basis as new apps are added often. While some developers are not willing to convert apps there are new developers working to meet the business need.

RIM solicits and incents developers to create apps. What I do not have in access to some business apps I have more then made up for with PB flexibility.

I am a small business owner and do consulting for telecom companies. Some of my business management tools I still have to use my primary workstation, but these tools are not as needed when on the road or out of the office. My travel weight for equipment is down 15 to 20 pounds. Presentation and information readiness is now 3 to 5 minutes versus 20 or 30 and the bility to pass my playbook around with data for some one to look at is much better then having someone come look over my shoulder.

I understand your frustration...just wanted to give you some plusses we sometimes don't talk about. The PB isn't perfect, but it has made my business life easier and productive.
