Up to now I thought that the mailing on my 3 month old playbook was an outstanding feature.
However i had to close my email account because i was receiving huge amounts of spam daily.
I have now installed a gmail account but am having problems.
It will send and receiveok however althiough when i clear the in box by archiving to the gmail folder the messages disappear.
The search feature which used to impress me has also disappeared.
The google account works perfectly on a laptop and a new android tablet which were installed at the same time.
I have also logged on to the gmail account via the web and all the archived messages are stored.
The simple conclused is that somehow a setting on my playbook is wrong.
I havnt given up yet but any suggestions would be appreciated.

In message app settings, display, is Hide Filed Messages on or off?
If you have more than one account, tap the @ icon, select the gmail account then tap the folder icon to show all tbe gmail folders.
If necessary change the sync period in the account advanced settings to the max of 30 days.
Gmail is a little more complex in its archiving process. I always use one of the live folders like Personal, rather than the archive process, probably my lack of understanding.I'm a hotmail person at heart.

Ok even with just the one account you will see a @ underneath the magnifying glass icon. When you tap the @, you have choice of all accounts, gmail or add account; choose the gmail account. Then there will be a folder icon top left corner. Tap that and all the gmail folders should be shown.
Check out each one

Yes ihave done that a few times today.
The problem is that when I go through the archiving steps by selecting a read message in my in box
Then going to folders and selecting gmail the messages are transfered to the gmail folder from the in box ok but they seem to disappear from this folder easily ie accidental refreshing
Whilst at the moment I am still getting tl grips with it I have lost confidence that. I could trust it if I was dealing with lots of messages
Gmail certainly seems to ok on my other equipment

Have you updated to the newest OS
@qjunj666 - Irrelevant.
To the OP, The problem is using "Archive" function instead of using a live folder such as Personal. Archiving means filing out of sight so expecting it to be seen by Playbook is a big ask. Archive is not shown. In any case you only have sight of live messages between 7 and 30 days, depending on Playbook message settings.
