Hi djb25,
Unfortunately the other chargers are really slow to charge, so they might not cut it. The catch is that even if the device was charged, it can apparently drain quite quickly while in this endless reboot phase.
Is there any chance you have the latest version of the Desktop Software installed on your work computer? If so, I would try steps 2-3 from my previous post. If that doesn't work, then you might indeed need to wait until you get home. You can at least press and hold the power button for a few seconds which will turn the screen off, saving a little battery life.

After reading your post i did the following.
took my powered off playbook and connected it to my laptop with the USB cable and the Playbook powered on and now it is back alive. My battery is showing 60% capacity, apparently the l"et it sit and wait" approach was the best one. ![]()
I guess I need to work on my patience.
Thanks for the prompt replies/suggestions.

Hi All,
Okay a few thoughts.
1) Use the bigger charger that comes with the Playbook. USB will work, but it won't recharge nearly as fast as the included charger. In order to go to the next step, the device does need some juice. While it is not obvious that it is charging (while it is bricked), I think it is. Do this for 15 minutes to get enough charge.
2) Download the latest Desktop Manager. Launch.
3) Plug in via USB to update. If you see some file update (something like ...QNX.OS.debricked...) then you are on the right track. The DM will update to .1705
You'll have to go through re-initializing the device which somewhat unfortunately needs WIFI to do it. (Dumb...)
Also, I've noticed in this version that cut n paste is now included, although, I can't quite figure out how to activate it.
Hope that helps.

I have the same issue, when I plug the device into the power outlet the RED LED comes on for about 7 secs then goes off and briefly displays playboo, this continues in a loop.
I spoke with RIM, all levels of telephone support, even created a WEBNX.
Reboot via power and volume.
DTM Update will complete then say please disconect your device to complete update but the Playbook screen is still black.
Any Ideas?
Cheers
David

did you try simply keeping the pb plugged in while it reboots?

Thanks for you reply, unfortunatly I have tried that, I was wondering if anyone had or could test the Rapid charger to see if it made a diffrence. I am in the UK and was brought the device over from the US. I will not be back state side till next year and I am unable to exchange the device.
I have contacted RIM as the problem happened after the latest FW update and the charge was 96%, they want the device back for testing but are having issue with the return as I am the wrong side of the pond.
I am really upset as am BB Server support certified and work for T-Mobile UK, no joint with Orange as EverythingEverywhere and loved the device.
If one of you guys that are having power problems could even try the rapid charger then return it, I would be greatfull.
Kind Regards
David
