It's been plugged into the wall charger for like the last hour and it'll show the playbook text for a second then repeat the process over and over and over showing the playbook text since its been plugged in.

Dito, I have left mine over night and still the same, did you do the second firmware update?
Is there any chance you could try the rapid charger and even return it?
I would but as stated am in the Scotland

David & Scratchskier,
Okay guys... It pains me to read these posts and it's frankly unbelievable that RIM didn't design the charging in a better manner.
I'm thinking out loud here....
When my device was bricked, it did what you guys did... I plugged into the rapid charger for a while and hoped that would get the charge back. To be honest, I'm not sure if it worked or not.
Anyhow, I connected my device to my laptop and left it off. When I ran desktop manager, it recognized the device was bricked and loaded a new version of the OS.
So, again, sorry for being basic here...
1) Can the device boot on its own? I.E., does it have some charge?
2) If yes, (hopefully), then leave it off and connect to your laptop via USB
3) Run the desktop manager
Maybe, just maybe, it will recognize that it needs to upgrade the OS.

Just out of curiousity, when you go to desktop manager, do you see the Playbook in the "device" menu of the DM?
Also, if DM does see the PB, go to Device Properties and check battery level. What does it say?
