playbook wont connect to laptop

hi there,

have a blackberry playbook here and cant get it to connect to the laptop at all!

when it is conntect via the usb lead on the desktop software manager it says it wont connect then comes up a message bo saying update or retry, but when i update this it does the same thing!

 

HELP!!

Is your tablet in working order?

 

Are you trying to connect to Windows or Mac?

Trying to connect it to a windows 8 computer. It is in working order although I can't sync it with the computer at all

Did you install BlackBerry Desktop Software? If so, what's the version?

When you connect your tablet, do you see the lightening bolt icon on the battery?

Yeah I do have it it's 7.1. No it won't charge it comes up in the tablet it can't charge with the laptop power source

Do you know if you have Power Management enabled on your USB ports?

They are working, it allows other devices to charge.

Are your "other" devices "tablets"?  Tablets require a higher amperage to charge on computer/laptop USB ports.  If you look at your Playbook charger, you should notice it has a higher amperage output.

 

BTW..... iPads also do NOT charge on USB ports unless they are Apple computers.

I'm not too fussed on if its charging or whatnot just it won't connect to the computer

Please try turning of the USB Power management. Once done, reboot your computer then connect to your computer.
