I did not set up the blackberry user id properly when I first started with my playbook. I did not put my email address as the user id. I have forgotten my password and cannot get a new one as Blackberry can't send me one. Is there anything I can do about this? Many thanks

Assuming you cannot retrieve the passwords any other way...
Create a new (Hotmail) email address.
Write it down and write down the password somewhere safe!
Go to Settings, Security, Security wipe.
Wipe the Playbook. That will put it back to factory condition.
When it asks for you to set it up again, use the new email address as your Blackberry ID.
It will set you up again.
Unfortunately you will lose any data and lose any App purchases. If data is important copy it to your PC/Mac using wifi file sharing NOT Blackberry Backup as you would not be able to restore it.
