So, I have BES 4.1 SP4 running on a SBS2003 server. We are migrating to SBS2008, and thought it might be good to look at what is out there for upgrading the BES software.
We have 10 BB devices in the company. We do nothing fancy; just email calendar, contacts and a bit internet surfing. All the devices are Bold 9100.
I was not aware of BES Express until I did some reading today.
Am i understanding correctly that I can move to BESX 5.0 at no charge? And I just install it on the SBS 2008 server, leave the BES 4.1 in place on the SBS2003, and move users by wiping their device after I move their mailbox?
Sounds too easy; what's the catch?

Wipe if you want or use transporter to move.
There is no catch. You can even use a BIS plan but have to do wired activation.

Just reporting back. I've had success running both BES 4.1 and BESX on two differant servers (2003 and 2008 x64) while we slowly transition users over to the new platform.
Wired activation using the Blackberry Web Desktop Manager worked well for phones without a BES level internet service since enterprise activation is not available.

First of all, thanks for the great post!
I'm migrating from BPS4 to BESE5: BPS is installed on SBS2003 and I'm going to install BESE and a new SQL server express on a 2003 x64 VM.
I'd like to have both BPS and BESE running simultaneously and migrate users gradually (I have only 10 users).
May I use for both BPS and BESE the same AD windows account (BESAdmin) for authenticating on the Exchange server?
Thanks in advance
