Evenin'
Just set up BPS 4.14B - it's running on Win 2003 and hooks into Exchange 2007 on SBS 2008.
There's only one user, and here's her story:
Her mailbox was exported from a server in NYC and dropped over the wire to the new setup in the UK - PST was imported into Outlook 2007, and everything went fine. We have a forwarder set on the NYC box to forward all mails to the UK domain, and her reply address is set up as the NYC SMTP domain - initial activation problems were sorted by reverting her reply address to the local SMTP domain, and switched later.
After the initial activation problems were fixed, we came across the problem that although her contacts were added to the device, they wouldn't sync if additions were made, either on the device or Outlook - this is all wireless, BTW - no desktop software is involved.
A quick peek through the server logs picked up this (I've obscured the user's name with USER_ID):
[SYNC-Gate] Performing user config change check.

So, having trawled through the Interweb, I concluded that there's corrupt contacts somewhere. Now, she's got somewhere in the region of 780 contacts, so finding them wouldn't be easy.
I settled on exporting all contacts from her mailbox to a CSV and binned the lot. Imported the CSV, and there were three less than were there before. Bingo! I thinks - but no. A wipe and reactivate results in exactly the same (different GUID, though).
So, I'm now at a bit of a loss. The only thing left to me is to export all mail and calendar items to a PST, contacts to a CSV and bin the whole mailbox. If that doesn't work, it's a hammer. ![]()
Any bright ideas ladies/gents?

Can you export and remove the contacts from Outlook, then able to activate?
Then add a contact from outlook, check sync on HH and then the same on HH create and check outlook to see if it is really working.
That will rule out BPS having an issue and tell you its contact related.

I'm pretty sure it's contact related. I'll try what you suggest, though - I just got all tied up thinking about trying to troubleshoot my way through nearly 800 contact entries. I'm positive that BPS is working correctly, just don't have another device to make absolutely sure - your way is **bleep** fine method for making sure - thanks. ![]()
I'm still thinking I need to bin the whole mailbox, but I'll post back with the results tomorrow.

Try using DM to sync with advanced sync logging enabled.
OP stated "no desktop software is involved" but could be used as a last resort.

... ok, what is your point?

Would using the desktop software give me any more log detail than I'm currently getting in the server?
If it can point me toward the exact contact entries that are causing the problem, then it'll be my next port of call.
As a further point, is there a way of turning up the log level within the server to get more detail? It's pretty verbose at the moment, but a couple of 4-character GUIDs aren't a lot of use...

My comments are in-line...

>> Yes you can ... that said, you may / may not get much value you out of it. KB00765 - How to change debug registry settings ... try increasing the level to 6
... just make sure when you're done you drop it back down. That said, you'll get better log data from the intellisync log for troubleshooting this then you will from the server.
