Hi,
I'm a newbie who has setup for a customer a BB Professional software on a SBS2003 environment using SQL Express and have had it working now since the beginning of September.
After an overnight reboot the Blackberry Controller did not started up and will not start up manually when requested.
Also now I have found my users have not had syncronisation of their emails since the reboot.
Please find below the error within the Alert Log.

Hi,
I have found my interum solution on the Blackberry Technical Solution area.
It said to:
1) Stop DNS Server
2) Start Blackberry Controller
3) Start DNS Server
This has worked and now my users are receiving their emails.
As this is a temporary solution, is there somewhere I should be monitoring to confirm a real fix for this?
Thanks,
Barry.

We had the same problem with a server after windows updates this week. Your post helped us get it working, but then I happened to find the following document:
http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/articles/787/KB1600
We have not had a chance to reboot again to verify the registry fix, but it explains further.

Hi,
We had the same and the DNStrick fixed it.. Unfortunatley, CDCYUS your link doesn't work.. goes to Apache server with error.. perhaps you could re-enter it?
Thanks.. Omar

BES on an SBS server. I had this same problem after a Win Update reboot. The DNS thing worked for an immediate fix, then just tonight I went in and reserved ports 4070-4071 as Microsoft describes here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812873
Then I made the BB controller use 4071 as the document described. And yea, his link didn't work. I believe this one will take you to the document.
I rebooted and all was well......
I am on AT&T. Please edit your Personal Profile with your DEVICE TYPE, DEVICE OS and Carrier
