I did the first stage of the BPS install, rebooted and now at the DB part. I left it on the default settings and hit next, after a bit it came back and told me that the DB couldn't be created. So I installed MSDE and tried to create an instance (setup INSTANCENAME="BESMgmt" SAPWD="Password") and it rolls back on me and I get these in the app event logs:
The performance counter explain text string value in the registry is incorrectly formatted. The bogus string is ed by monitoring the time that the service is inactive, and subtracting that value from 100%., the bogus index value is the first DWORD in Data section while the last valid index values are the second and third DWORD in Data section.
Installing the performance counter strings for service MSSQL$BESMGMT (MSSQL$BESMGMT) failed. The Error code is the first DWORD in Data section.
Product: Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine -- Installation operation failed.
I have search the BB KB and Googled it and can't find anything to help me resolve this issue.
