We are considering installing the "Professional Software Express" on a Windows2003 Small Business Server and using Blackberrys for on the move administration.
I have a couple (of easy if you know the answers) questions - I admit to being a Blackberry virgin.
1: Can the Blackberry sync' with a public callendar and public contacts in Exchange server when using the "Express" software.
2: If yes - is this a "live" sync' - ie: does a callendar update automatically push out to all the Blackberrys via the mobile phone network (and updates from phone to server) or does the sync' require connection to the local (office) wireless network.
3: What are the advantages of the full "Professional Software" - we only anticipate a maximum of 6 users.
Thanks for any assistance.
Denis.

1) No. Currently No BPS / BES server product can perform this natively.
2) See 1
3) BPS Express = BPS; no difference.

Thanks for your quick response, but I need to be clear when I talk to the potential end user:
1: Does the "BPS Express" sync' personal calendars and contacts only when connected to the LAN (wireless).
OR
2: Does it update "live" (pushed over the cellphone network) if the Blackberry users personal calendar (or contacts) are updated by another user in the office (and from the Blackberry, if it is updated, to the Exchange server over the cellphone network)?
I guess from some of the discussions regarding "sync" issues that it is "1", but I need to be sure.
Thanks again for your assistance,
Denis.

As long as the BlackBerry handheld has a valid BES data connection it will sync wirelessly.
That can be either via a carriers network, or via a WiFi connection (if the device supports WiFi)

Is it possible to sync with a public folder another way such as via the desktop software? I ask because in my case the data in the public folder will not change often, but they need it on their Blackberry devices. Is there any way to get that info on there?
Thanks... Dave
