I have one server that is 2003 32-bit running BESX 5.0.1 and I'm trying to migrate over to a 2008 R2 64-bit server with BESX 5.0.4. All the documentation I've seen from RIM just has general information. Can anyone help? At first, I initially just installed BESX 5.0.4 on the new server and created a new database and tried to migrate the users in the BAS console. I'm pretty new to this, so any help would be much appreciated.

Service Packs must match if connecting 2 or more BES to same database.
since you have a new database, you can use transporter to move users over

its part of the BRK

Okay, I tried installing the BESX 5.0.4 again and it is now telling me it can't connect to the database when I use a static port. If I try using a dynamic port it says it can't execute an SQL statement. Any ideas?

did you assign permission in SQL so BES can access it?
Double check permission according to this
What is the BESAdmin service account?

Okay, so I've been through those documents and made a couple of changes actually. I retried the installation package and it still gives me the same error. Here's another question which, depending on the answer, might lead me to a different path. I successfully installed 5.0.4 once on the server I'm trying to currently reinstall it on. I uninstalled it because I couldn't get it to see the old database (before I knew about the transporter tool). Now, even as I haven't been able to reinstall it, I still see the SQL instance in my Services console. Did I not fully uninstall BESX when I did the uninstall via the Programs And Features tool? Do I need to somehow remove that SQL instance of a BB database? Thanks so much for your help.
