KB14502 - How to migrate ... question

Hello.  I have a question on the KB14502 - How to migrate the BlackBerry Enterprise Server from Microsoft Exchange Server 20000 or 20003 to Microsoft Excahnge Server 2007: where do I perform step 6 through 9?  In the server where the BPS is located, or on the server where the Exchange 2007 is located, where the mailboxes of the BB users are?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have a BB device. I just manage the BESX and BPS servers in our organization.

You do it on BES server. Basecally you need to remove old Exchange mgmt tools with the new 2007 ones

Re: KB14502 - How to migrate ... question

Thanks.  Note that we cannot remove the Exchange 2003 yet because this server is still our smart host which sends/receives mail to/from our Spam filter provider for our Internet mail.  Also note that the BPS is running on this server!

...also note that is not smart idea that you have all those services running on the same box.

Re: KB14502 - How to migrate ... question

not a smart move.  I can see it now.  But when we installed this in May 2008, with BlackBerry support walking me through the installation process, he did not prevent me from installing the BPS on the Exchange 2003 server.  We only have 3 BB devices in our company and their contacts, notes, and tasks are not synching!f

They don't sync as they need newer cdo.dll and mapi32.dll files for 2007. Well it should work if you upgrade that server to 2007 or move BES to another server.

Re: KB14502 - How to migrate ... question

The first sentence on the "System requirements" of the BPS Getting Started Guide is "You can install the BlackBerry Professional Software on the server that hosts your organization's messaging server or on a separate server.".  In May 2008, we installed the BPS on the Exchange 2003 server.  At the time we installed the BPS, we only had one BB device.  In Dec 2008, we added two more.

I will plan on moving the BPS to another server.  What confuses me too is that most BB documentations refer to BES.  We are actually using "BPS".
